TGIF: Promote an Author {5}

This week's question - Promote An Author: Is there a particular author you wish got more recognition? Pick one author & tell us why we should read their work.
Julie Buxbaum

There's a chance that Julie has gotten more recognition than I realize, but that's the first author that came to mind so I'm sticking with it. I remember first picking up The Opposite of Love - I was so drawn in by the title and the cover image. Throw in a blurb by Emily Giffin, and I knew I had to read it. Thankfully, it was even better than I ever could have imagined.

I absolutely LOVE the was Julie writes. She's witty and sharp, which is a huge plus for me when I'm reading a book. Besides that, she packs an emotional punch. Both of her novels (the other is After You) suck you in and leave you feeling slightly breathless.

Want an example of the way Julie's writing draws you in? Here's the first paragraph of the first chapter in The Opposite of Love

"Last night, I dreamt I chopped Andrew up into a hundred little pieces, like a Benihana chef, and ate them, one by one. He tasted like chicken. Afterward, I felt full but slightly disappointed. I had been craving steak."

Don't lie - you're dying to read more. GO BUY HER BOOKS. You'll be so obsessed with them.
