February 2014: Recap Vlog + On My Shelves

Sarah Hearts
Did it take me long enough to get this recap up? I can't believe we're already a week into March. February was my birthday month, and we got a special treat here in the South: SNOW! That's a rarity here in Georgia, and it resulted in being having almost a week off work. Because of those days, I read a ton of books in February - 19 books total. I know... such a nerd.

All of that reading made me do something different for this month's vlog. I decided to talk what I read instead of what I added to my shelves! If you end up watching it, let me know if I should continue to talk about what I read or if you prefer a video about what I added to my shelves. I'm not sure which one I like better!

  1. I really liked the "new" vlog! As much as I love seeing shiny books, I really LOVE hearing people actually talking about the books they've read. It sounded like you had a good reading month, so here's to a wonderful March!

  2. So I'm at work so I can't watch your vlog right now. BUT I had to comment on how PRETTY those Anne of Green Gable books are! I love them!

  3. You surely had an EPIC EPIC reading month! And you started March off with a bang too :)))))) I really need to get on the Bronze Horseman train asap!

  4. I liked this vlog format, but I like your other one too =( Can you do both? One of my favourite parts about hauls is learning why bloggers bought the books they did. For instance, I'm so excited to see Daughter of Smoke & Bone in your haul ... can't wait to hear what you think of that one! I just re-read it (second re-read this year -- whoot whoot!) and am just about to dive into the second book. I loved it even more the second time through =)

    1. Haha! I like the both idea! And I think your point about finding out WHY bloggers bought the books they did. That's a great point!

  5. Ok.

    1. Go February Birthdays!
    2. I am craving the Bronze Horseman SO much now.
    3. YOU BOUGHT DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE!!! *happy dance*
    4. I can't even breathe over those Anne covers. I absolutely must have them.
    5. I'm a HUGE fan of the vlog this month. :) I actually enjoy hearing you talk about the books you read more than what you bought (though please keep posting pictures of those because, yay). I think it's a little more personal and it gives a more casual feel to what you thought about what you read after distancing yourself a little, not such a deep critical "review" format. Seriously.

    1. 1. YAY!
      2. Oh gosh, read it. There are a few things I didn't like about it (gets a little romance novel-y there for a while), but the story is excellent.
      3. I've now also purchased the UK copies. Oops?!
      4. YOU MUST.
      5. Thanks for the feedback! I have been bad at vlogging these last two months, but I totally need to get back into it.

  7. I love this! Love seeing your pretty face grace the internet! I love that this video is an update on what you've read recently but I also love book haul videos so I'd say whatever strikes your fancy...or both! Let me know if I should read Lost Lake and did you read Margot? I have it and want to read it...just haven't yet. Heart you! :)

    1. 1. I like this whole "whatever strikes your fancy" idea!

      3. Haven't read Margot yet!

  8. LIST TIME! Love the video as you know.
    1. I love John Green b/c he is where I learned to love YA contemp BUT he is formulaic and that is why TFIOS is my least favorite. (NOBODY HIT ME.) I don't plan to see the movie or watch the trailer. (DON'T HIT ME.)
    2. I REALLY want to read The Bronze Horseman. Because of you and Kelly. Oh My Goodness. I see that you have all three chunksters there and they are gorgeous.
    3. I didn't read the second VRossi book because I wanted to wait until the series was complete! It's time!
    4. I am EMBARRASSED that I haven't read SAAddison because she is a NC author. FOR SHAME. BUT at this time she has so many books under her belt that I don't even know where to start. Feel free to direct me.
    5. LOSER ASHELEY has not read any Ruta. Hanging my head here.
    6. I NEED TO DO THE MARCHETTAS.
    7. I love the three you got for review but I need to stay away STAY FAR AWAY. Man oh man.

  9. I like this format a lot! It was just so nice to see you & hear your thoughts on the books. I really liked Love & Other Perishable Items but I definitely wouldn't classify it as fun so I think I see why it didn't fulfill your needs there. And I can't believe you were so into that historical novel that you just read through the whole thing. I think I have a horrible attention span. This is something I need to work on because even when I'm really into something, I find myself drifting and grabbing something else to do? I am the worst and blame social media for my lack of attention. Bah.

You have inspired me to go home and not look scary and talk about my books and other things.

I hope March is a great month for you *and there is no snow!!!*

  10. HELLO HANNAH AND JACKSON! Loving the vlog.

Can I just tell you I definitely felt the same with TFIOS? And I LOVE John Green. But TFIOS wasn't the end all be all for me for the same reason - so much JG, not enough sincere characters.

Oh my heart those Anne books are GORGEOUS. I need to start that series!

  11. Wow, Hannah you had an amazing reading month! NINETEEN BOOKS :) That's fabulous! I really want to try The Bronze Horseman, I think I might pick it up and give it a try because between you and Kelly the raving is too much to resist ;) Look at those beautiful copies of Anne ... *swoon*! I loved the reading month vlogs, but I also love the haul vlogs :) I have no preference!! Have an awesome March as well!!

  12. I absolutely love those Anne of Green Gables covers! It really is such a simple idea, but I love how well each one captures just where Anne is at each point in her life in each book.

  13. Hannah, you are adorable, as always. And Jackson's a cutie! I think it's great that you did a vlog about the books you've read, and both vlogs (what you read and what you received) work for me. (Therefore, I think you should do multiple vlogs so I can see your pretty face more! Haha.)

The new editions of Anne of Green Gables are SO PRETTY. I finally have enough cash to get them, and I cannot wait. They'll probably be the one set that I'll break my book buying ban for because I NEED THEM.

Also, I'm looking forward to reading the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series in April! I'm waiting till the third comes out, so that I can just binge on the entire thing :)
