Wednesday Wish: Ruben Toledo for Penguin Classics

Source
I have loved illustrator Ruben Toledo ever since I first saw his work in one of Nina Garcia's fashion books. And then I realized his also did a lot of illustration for Nordstrom. At that point, my love was officially sealed. When I found out he would be producing a series of covers for a few Penguin Classics, I was ecstatic. I knew I'd be in love with whatever he ended up creating. Needless to say, I'm thrilled with how they turned out! In case you haven't seen these already, you've seriously got to check them out! Oh, and they still count as a "wish" in my mind because there is one I don't own :)

Check out these three lovelies:

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

  1. I definitely almost bought the Pride and Prejudice copy you featured when I was visiting St. Louis a couple of weeks ago... so sad that I didn't! These are awesome.

    1. Aren't they lovely?! I really love Ruben Toledo's work. Sad you didn't pick up Pride and Prejudice :( At least it's available on Amazon if you still want it & can't find it anywhere else!

  2. I love these editions they are so unique and fun. I've only ever seen Wuthering Heights in a bookstore, but if I ever come across the copy of Pride and Prejudice I'd have to get it. My own copy is a tattered trade paperback that isn't nearly as awesome.

    1. I know! I love that they totally capture the "classic" feel of the book in a really hip and modern way. I wouldn't have thought that combination was possible if I hadn't seen these.
