He's Peetalicious!

Source
I read The Hunger Games series for the first time last year and obvious fell in love with books (*cough*Peeta!*cough*) immediately. However, I don't think my husband realized the depth of my love for them (*cough*Peeta!*cough*) until recently. Here are a few sample conversations from around my house.

After I came home from seeing The Hunger Games movie:
Nick: How as the movie?
Me: OMG I LOVED THE MOVIE AND WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN RIGHT NOW.
N: Really?
Me: YES. I'M NOT EXAGGERATING.
N: Okay, we can go see it again tonight if you want. I kind of wanted to see it, too.
Me: THIS IS ONE OF THE MANY REASONS WHY I MARRIED YOU.

Later that night after seeing the movie a second time:
N: So, was it just as good the second time around?
Me: Um, duh. Except I still wanted more kissing.
N: With who?
Me: PEETA. HOW IS THAT EVEN A QUESTION?
N: Oh gracious.

A few days later while sitting at home:
N: Look at this French Bulldog! Isn't it so cute?
Me: Aw, he's adorable!
*pause*
Me: OMG, if we get a boy one we could totally name him Peeta.
N: No.
Me: Please?
N: No.
Me: Can I take that as a maybe?
N: No. I will not be one of those people with a pet named after a fictional boy.
Me: Lots of people name things after book characters! It's not weird.
N: I agree. Unless the character comes from a popular book, and everyone and their mother knows it.
Me: And Peeta falls into that category?
N: Have you heard of ANYONE ELSE named Peeta? I haven't. And I won't let everyone think I named my dog for a boy from The Hunger Games.
Me: What about Effie for a girl dog?
N: I'd be okay with that.
Me: You'd be fine with Effie, but not Peeta?
N: Yep. Effie is cute. Peeta is a stupid name to begin with.
Me: Ugh...

A few hours after the French Bulldog name discussion:
Me: You know how I've been trying to think of a name for my Kindle? I've finally got the perfect name!
N: Do I even want to know?
Me: Guess!
N: I really have no idea.
Me: PEETA!
N: *rolls his eyes*
Me: And then I can say things like, "I'm in bed with Peeta" or "I'm reading in the bath with Peeta." *laughs at her own cleverness*
N: *sighs* You're such a dork sometimes. I mean, I love you for it, but it doesn't change the fact that you're a dork.
Me: You should be happy I've found a way to name something Peeta that doesn't involve our future dog.
N: Isn't that the truth...

After re-reading the whole series a few days later:
Me: I just love Peeta so much. Katniss doesn't even deserve him! I'd marry him and have his babies in a heartbeat!
N: He's not real... and you already married me. I think it might be time for you to find a new dream.

Guess what you have to look forward to? A post about the movie, reviews for all three books and a discussion about why I'm Team Peeta 4 Lyfe. Stay tuned!

To hold you over until then, here's a hilarious Peeta song that Andie at From A to Z found:

    1. Haha glad you love Peeta too! And love that your husband is a tall version of Peeta! I tried to convince my husband that he was just like Peeta so being obsessed with Peeta was really like being obsessed with him. I'm not sure he bought that argument haha :)

Mainly the Peeta love. Seriously, boy is working it all the time and doesn't even know it.

Thank goodness for wonderful husbands who love us in spite of our ridiculousness!

    1. Haha thanks for the love! Boy works it so hard, and I still don't understand how everyone isn't in love with him. And AMEN to being thankful for husbands who love us despite our craziness!

  7. LOL... I love the convo about dogs names... me and my husband actually agreed on our name for our dog. Its fictional. And no one really has that name. And its a little weird. We have a Yorkie named {drum roll!} Arwen =)

  8. Ha! That's so funny. I love it.

And don't kick me but I have to agree. Effie is way cuter than Peeta as a name.

So did you decide if you're getting a boy or girl dog?

    1. Haha don't worry - I won't kick you! In fact, I actually agree with my husband about the name Peeta, but I've got to push his buttons sometimes. The whole time I was reading The Hunger Games series I was wishing that Suzanne had given him a different name. Even Peter would have been better. Plus, the fact that he's the boy with the bread and he is named Peeta (aka Pita) kind of kills me haha!

We haven't decided yet. We're in the process of buying a house and moving so it may be a while before we actually get the dog. But hopefully not too far in the future :)
