June 2013: On My Shelves + Recap

Sarah Hearts
Oh June! While you were a little disappointing weather-wise, I've got to say that you brought a new refreshed and renewed attitude about blogging. After a month or two of slacking and feeling a little blah about it all, I've had a lot of fun the last month. Joining the Summer Series Challenge was such a good decision for me. I've already read 14 books for it, and I'm pumped about two more months of it. I went a little library crazy this month, but can you blame me? There were so many books available that I've been dying to read. So, all around it was a great month for reading, blogging and book acquisition. Here's to hoping July is even better!

  1. Awesome books for July! I so wish I could read that many books in a single month, I'm already so far behind on my 110 books in 2013 challenge. Sigh.

I will be reading Reached soon and I have no idea what will happen, eep!

    1. I go through phases! I definitely can't always keep up that reading pace. It just depends on what's going on that month. Thankfully, the summer is usually a great time to read for me!

      Hope you enjoy Reached!

  2. I get so happy when people read books I love - you read Looking for Alibrandi! Did you like it? Love it? Hate it? Don't tell me if you hated it. It's such an Aussie book - the movie is brilliant too. IMHO of course :)
Happy reading and reviewing for July!

    1. I LOVED Looking for Alibrandi! But I wanted more of it! So sad when it was over and that it was so open-ended. I'm such a Marchetta fangirl <3

  3. Oh my goodness, there are so many in these stacks that I love so hard. When You Were Here by Daisy Whitney - SO GOOD. Golden, Jessi Kirby. And Something Like Normal - I just re-read that at the beach the other day - it just felt like a nice beach read because it has so much of the beach in it even though it's an issues book (and one of the first contemps that I fell in love with). And even though the Perkins books aren't my favorites, I do absolutely love the new covers.

    1. Okay, so I had to return When You Were Here before I could read it but I'll totally be checking it out again soon. I loved Golden and Something Like Normal - read both while on my beach vacation and thought they were wonderful!

And glad you agree on the Perkins covers!

  4. You picked up so many great books from the library! I haven't read a lot of them, admittedly, but they're definitely books I'm truly interested in. Happy reading! :)

    1. I picked up too many! I couldn't even make a dent in that stack - too many books and too little time...

  5. You have SO many awesome books right now. I loved Mister Death's a TON. I really hope that you feel just as strongly about it. And Small Damages? I legit just bought that at an event two weeks ago. The author was so interesting and one of the characters is named Estella so I was like IT'S FATE. I hope I can read it soon. (Actually I'm pretty sure you are reading it now. haha).

Your mom has some great taste by the way. I need to get my hands on those paperbacks.

Hope you have a great weekend my dear! xo

    1. Okay, so I had to return Mister Death's before I could get to it, but I'll be checking it back out FOR SURE with that stamp of approval. I knew a blogger I loved had reviewed it but I couldn't remember who. And yay for Small Damages! It was a poetic read - lovely, enchanting and magical. Hope you like it!

And haha my mom was totally purchasing with my suggestions/influence :)
