My Year in Beauty {2018}

I always look forward to the end of the year for a variety of reasons – the holidays, the anticipation of the new year, and the habit of looking back on the past twelve months. Since 2015, I've always recapped the year with a series of posts I call "My Year in." From best books to biggest obsessions, they're some of my favorite posts to write. So, for the next week, you'll see what I loved in 2018. Now it's time for beauty products! • Beauty in 2016 and 2017

In the past, I've broken this into two sections: Makeup and Skin, Body, & Hair. But I didn't really buy many makeup products this year, so I just combined the two and am sharing my ten favorite beauty finds of 2018:

1. Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Creme ($38) – Of all the products here, this is the only one that probably isn't worth the price. Can eye cream really erase wrinkles and dark circles? But using it makes me feel better at least.

2. Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen ($19) – One of the biggest changes I wanted to make to my skincare routine in 2018 was to start using sunscreen daily. I sampled a few before settling on this one, which I have loved.

3. FingerPaints Nail Polish ($5) – I used to buy more expensive nail polish, but I gravitate towards cheap ones now that don't paint my nails as often. I tried this brand from Sally Beauty and was really pleased with the results.

4. L'OREAL Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara ($10) – This was recommended by my mom (and someone on Instagram, I think), and it's THE BEST. I love finding a new favorite cheap mascara! It works so well.

5. FARMACY Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm ($34) This balm has a creamy texture that "melts" into an oil as you rub it in and legit removes all of your makeup. Here's how it works – I'm so obsessed!

6. T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i Hair Dryer ($250) – When my hair dryer finally broke, I splurged on this one that on sale at Costco for $100. It's gotten rave reviews, and I can see why! My hair dries so fast now.

7. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask ($20) – This was recommended by Jessica from Go Fug Yourself, and I love it! At night before bed, I now just slather on this thick balm and wake up with soft, moisturized lips.

8. Ouai Dry Texture Foam ($28) – When I cut my hair shorter, I started curling it into loose waves. I bought this texture foam to give it a more piece-y look, and it's so perfect. It doesn't take much and does exactly what I want!

9. Smashbox Full Exposure Palette ($52) – My sister gave me this palette a year or two ago, but I found myself using it more this year than in the past. It's got some great neutrals, though I wish they were a bit more pigmented.

10. It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream ($38) – I needed to try a new foundation this summer, and this was the winner from my Ulta browsing. I loved it so much – the color, the formula, the coverage.

  1. I always end up buying something from your list each year and this time it just might be that blow dryer!

  2. I love the Lash Paradise mascara! I wish it wasn't quite as dry (sometimes I get black specks that fall) but it's worth it to me LOL. It's my favorite. I've been wanting to try a few other things on here so I'm excited to see them on your list :D

  4. I'm so curious about It Cosmetics! I've never tried any of their products, but I've been most interested in their CC Cream. To see you include it on your list of faves? Makes me want to try it out in the new year once I'm out of what I'm currently using!
