I'm sure there's quite a bit out there, but I guess I'm more familiar with adult historical fiction? It's definitely something I need to work on finding more of, though!
I agree this book was so well researched and it made me want to do some more research after finishing myself! Waller clearly knows how to translate good research into a work of fiction. :)
This one didn't work out for me quite as well as it did for you, unfortunately, but I'm glad you loved this and I can't wait to see what Waller writes about next..even thought it's still such a long way off!Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03052456915027241479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7453643548383938123.post-91439386335385616652014-07-26T10:12:17.893-04:002014-07-26T10:12:17.893-04:00I've had a copy of this in my house for a few ...I've had a copy of this in my house for a few months now, I just haven't made the time to read it yet. But I feel like your reviews are normally so spot on with my tastes, so I may need to read this even sooner than I was planning.Shoshanahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15707241263291051104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7453643548383938123.post-71274105393729683402014-07-25T13:59:01.755-04:002014-07-25T13:59:01.755-04:00I can't believe I still haven't read A Mad...I can't believe I still haven't read A Mad Wicked Folly! I've had it in my collection for months now, but I still haven't quite gotten around to cracking it open and devouring it. Your gushing thoughts on this title are seriously making me want to neglect the rest of my TBR pile just to read it (and I may just do that). I love that there's a great main character that I can root for, a slow burn romance (THE BEST!), that it's set in LONDON and that the historical aspect is well-researched. I seriously cannot wait!Alexa S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13185723439360170259noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7453643548383938123.post-53093951036636788742014-07-23T17:41:31.913-04:002014-07-23T17:41:31.913-04:00Oh my gosh, I loved this book so much. Definitely ...Oh my gosh, I loved this book so much. Definitely a fav read of 2014. I read it back in January and it's still on my favorites list and I have a feeling it will definitely be staying there. I loved all the historical detail from the descriptions of the clothing to the art to the whole suffragette movement. And Will!!! Omg I am so in love with him. Some of those scenes!! Steamy. Especially the one at the cottage. You know what I'm talking about right? I also wanted more romance, but that was just me being selfish and wanting more Will. I really loved Vicky as a mc. I really loved how she was a woman born way before her time and how she fought to maintain a balance between independence and the traditional way of life. I pretty much loved everything about this one and the author is super sweet which is a bonus. :) Great review! I'm disappointed that it violates one of my peeves about book covers: deliberate historical inaccuracy. Just google "dresses 1909" to get a flavor of what an "opulent dress" was at the turn of the 20th-century. I'm sure the designers thought the real style of the time would not have seemed alluring enough, and their yellow dress was more glamorous and eye-catching, but when you're the author who has labored over historical accuracy inside the book, you deserve not to have blatant anachronisms on the outside of it. Besides, a talented book designer could make the back view of, say, this dress pretty darned hot. Argh! Please respect history, publishers!Elizabeth Famahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04931639156261179425noreply@blogger.com
