I love long books, too! I put off reading them, but I always end up loving them even more. I love having all those extra pages to spend time with the characters.

I agree on WWI fiction being harder to find! I liked that this one was so focused on the war because I haven't read much about this time period. I've certainly found lots more WWII fiction! Hope you like this one if you get around to reading it!Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05058757489545239601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7453643548383938123.post-15807265147324639392013-09-17T21:42:07.208-04:002013-09-17T21:42:07.208-04:00I prefer in-depths characters, too, but this was n...I prefer in-depths characters, too, but this was nice for a little change. I'm definitely a fan of character development, but I still liked that this one was something different. I love this era, so that added to my enjoyment too :)Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05058757489545239601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7453643548383938123.post-38489771663962555772013-09-17T21:40:30.978-04:002013-09-17T21:40:30.978-04:00It took me a little longer to get into the first o...It took me a little longer to get into the first one, but once I did... Watch Downton Abbey. Yay for Letters From Skye obsession! <3

The author of this one is American (I think) so it never felt too Brit-speak :) But I also love the British peoples so I may not have noticed until if it ventured into that direction. But definitely library them!Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05058757489545239601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7453643548383938123.post-39034663852556275912013-08-28T16:52:41.664-04:002013-08-28T16:52:41.664-04:00I loved this series so so much. However, I do like the era it's set in and the fact that it seems to really draw on that to tell most of the story. Even though it appears like this one might be a lengthy read, I feel like I would probably like it for its atmospherics and story.Alexa S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13185723439360170259noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7453643548383938123.post-52541996570726986182013-08-28T12:10:20.223-04:002013-08-28T12:10:20.223-04:00I've seen this before, and I think it sounds r...I've seen this before, and I think it sounds really good! I'm not really crazy about Downton Abbey, but I enjoyed it and I think a bookish version would be fun. (Also kind of like that it's 500 pages, because long books are almost always better...in my opinion, haha.)

And in general, I kind of feel like WWI fiction is a bit more difficult to find, especially compared to WWII/Holocaust fiction, so it's always nice to read about a different era.Renae @ Respiring Thoughtshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01269581772628307546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7453643548383938123.post-4139544051392506102013-08-28T10:30:29.438-04:002013-08-28T10:30:29.438-04:00Gosh, this cover is absolutely stunning and it is ...Gosh, this cover is absolutely stunning and it is interesting given you say that the book is so man-focused in the storylines. I've never seen Downton Abbey (I know, I know) but since reading Letters From Skye (I'm obsessed with that book) I loved/got a feel for the wartime experience a teensy bit. I think I might consider revisiting this series at some point in my jaunt into historical fiction but I'm a little bit concerned about it being British because I've never done well with Brit-speak (I may have made that word up just now). These would probably have to be library loans for me for that reason (also the reason I've not watched D Abbey).

I'm so glad you liked this one. The new covers are SO pretty.Asheley T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03908795522290889438noreply@blogger.com
