And then I had to remind myself that this stuff happens in real life, every single day, and not reading about it doesn't make it go away (even though this is a fictional account). I think it helped that McCormick handled it so delicately, while still dealing with the truth of it, if that makes any sense.

You should definitely consider reading it. As sad and hard as it was to read, it's definitely a book that will stuck in your mind long after you're done reading it.Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05058757489545239601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7453643548383938123.post-15551735905975827872012-04-28T07:14:45.424-04:002012-04-28T07:14:45.424-04:00Oh man, I don't even know if I would be able t...Oh man, I don't even know if I would be able to handle Sold. Well, probably. Still, I feel like reading it I would sob, even though Lakshimi is strong, it just is hard to read about kids sold into prostitution. I know that child sexual abuse has a devastating effect on the psyche, so it's kind of hard to read about. Cuz, I feel horrible for the kid and then start thinking about the effect it would have in real life.

Wow... what a long rambling quote.

Anyways, your review is really good, I am thinking I might put this on hold at my library.April (BooksandWine)https://www.blogger.com/profile/15268544465552896599noreply@blogger.com
